It is freely branching from the base with ascending branches that bear gracefully arching willowy leaves that are glossy green and to 5 inches long. Dark green leaves turn golden in the fall along with maturing red to black inedible fruit that the birds do enjoy. A great landscape plant fine line buckthorn combines the feathery foliage of asplenifolia with the narrow upright habit of columnaris use fine line in narrow hedgerows for privacy as an accent plant or even in a patio container.
